Indonesia celebrates its Independence on August 17, 1945 but some of the cities are way older than that. Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital, for instance. Located on the western part of Java island, Jakarta celebrates its birthday on June 22, 1527. It is said that on that day, Demak soldiers under command of Sultan Fatahillah, took over this city from the Portuguese.

The national language is Bahasa Indonesia, however some parts of Indonesia have their own scripts and dialects.

As the capital city of the nation, Jakarta also plays the role as governmental center, business and industrial hub. The city with 660 kilometer width is occupied by about 8 million populations. Now, Jakarta is growing as a metropolitan city that reflects the advancement of the nation economic, politic, social and industry.
